Biography

Lindsey Nicastro is a dance educator based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a recent graduate from Hofstra University with a B.S. in Dance Education and a New York State Initial Certification in Dance Education. Currently, Lindsey is teaching ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and tap in Horizons Dance Center, a nationally and internationally award winning dance studio in Brooklyn. Up until her recent graduation, she has taken on responsibilities such as preparing informal and formal performances, handling the organization’s funds, advertising for events, and designing and ordering the department’s clothing and paraphernalia as a former executive board member of Hofstra dance department’s student-run organization.
         Her passion for dance and her drive for success is evident through Lindsey’s devotion to such organizations and her past achievements. She is a former Miss Dance of the United States, an honor including the representation of the American Cancer Society during numerous fundraisers, performances, benefits, and school assemblies around the country to both promote the charity and the importance of the arts for children. As a dance educator, Lindsey aspires to implement a dance program that both advocates and confirms that the arts are central to human experience and celebrate culture and student achievement. She aims to create meaning, encourage community involvement, and begin a lifetime of self-exploration and discipline for all the students that she will encounter.
